Our Village

Bwindi is famous for the Impenetrable National Park, home to the endangered mountain gorillas. It’s also home to our village of Buhoma.

Discover life in Bwindi

Despite the challenges of rural poverty and limited resources, life in Bwindi is shaped by strong community ties, hard work, and deep connection to the land. In villages like Buhoma, families rely on farming, small businesses, and tourism, while traditions, resilience, and daily life continue side by side.

Visit us and meet our amazing children

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the few places in the world where you can see endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat.

People come from around the world to experience Bwindi’s biodiversity and take part in gorilla trekking. Many stay in nearby villages like Buhoma as they explore the region. We are honored that some visitors also take the time to visit our orphanage.

Life for our children

The children we care for grow up in a close-knit community where daily life is shaped by learning, responsibility, and connection.

With the support of sponsors, children can attend school and learn English. They help care for our farm animals, they plant and harvest food, and of course they play. Music, singing, and dance are a central part of our culture – we even have a traditional choir.

Together with our donors, we are helping these children build a stronger future for themselves and for our village.

Make a difference

Thank you for considering supporting our children. Every donation makes a real difference.
